Credit: Danny ClinchNeil Young will take part in a new “Honor the Treaties” benefit concert on July 3 in Edmonton, Canada.

The fundraiser will benefit the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation’s legal fight against oilsands development in its territory, reports the Edmonton Journal. Four similar shows last year raised $750,000 for the cause.

Honor the Treaties is an organization that amplifies the voices of indigenous communities through art, states its website.

Young is passionate lending his own artistic voice to the cause, and was quite outspoken last fall during a news conference kicking off a short tour to raise money for the organization.

“Canada is trading integrity for money,” he said.

Blue Rodeo will also appear at the concert, which will be held at Rexall Place. Tickets start at $45 and go on sale Friday, May 1.
