Credit: James O’MaraSome very disconcerting news about Joni Mitchell‘s current condition has emerged. According to an exclusive report from TMZ, the 71-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who was hospitalized last month after being found unconscious at her Los Angeles home, currently is in a comatose state at UCLA Medical Center.

TMZ says Mitchell has “no immediate prospects for getting better,” and reports that her longtime friend Leslie Morris has filed legal documents requesting conservatorship over the acclaimed singer/songwriter, since she has no close relatives in position to handle her affairs.

According to TMZ, the documents filed claim that Mitchell is “so impaired as to be incapable of being assessed.”

ABC News reached out to Morris and to Mitchell’s agent and manager Jonah Lustig, but they both had no comment in response to TMZ’s report. Fans who would like to send get-well messages to Joni can do so by visiting WeLoveYouJoni.com.

TMZ originally revealed the news that Joni had been found unconscious and brought to UCLA Medical Center on March 31, although an update later that day on her official website reported, “She regained consciousness on the ambulance ride to an L.A. area hospital. She is currently in intensive care undergoing tests and is awake and in good spirits.” A follow-up note posted April 3 on the site said, “Joni remains under observation in the hospital and is resting comfortably.”
