Credit: MJ KimPaul McCartney rocked the historic Nippon Budokan venue in Tokyo Tuesday, and during the show he treated Japanese fans to his first-ever live performance of the 1965 Beatles tune “Another Girl.” The song, which appeared on the Fab Four’s Help! album, also was never played in concert by the band.

McCartney’s Budokan show took place almost 49 years after The Beatles played a trio of concerts at the arena. NME reports Sir Paul commented about his performance in a statement, saying, “It was sensational and quite emotional remembering the first time and then experiencing this fantastic audience tonight. It was thrilling for us and we think it was probably the best show we did in Japan and it was great to be doing the Budokan 49 years later. It was crazy. We loved it.”

Tuesday’s concert was the fifth and final concert McCartney is scheduled to play in Japan this year. His next gig takes place this Saturday, May 2, in Seoul, South Korea, and will be the first show he’s ever played in that country.
