ABC/Randy HolmesElton John was among the charitable celebrities who attended the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s annual Hot Pink Party: The Pink Standard last night. The event helped raise nearly $7 million for breast cancer research.

Elton has been a longtime supporter of the BCRF, which was founded in 1993 by the late Evelyn H. Lauder. Evelyn’s husband, Leonard Lauder, was honored at the event.

“Continuing the extraordinary legacy of my dear friend Evelyn Lauder has been an honor,” Elton said in a statement. “Leonard has been a powerful force in bringing us closer to the end of breast cancer and it is with great pleasure and respect that we honor him tonight for his leadership at BCRF.”

Elton’s been a part of the charity gala since it launched in 2001. Last year, he performed at the event with Sara Bareilles.

This year’s Hot Pink Party was held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City and was hosted by model and actress Elizabeth Hurley, a Global Ambassador for The Estee Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Actor Neil Patrick Harris was also in attendance, while 18-time Grammy Award winner Tony Bennett performed.
