GEORGE IN THE MORNING

In August of ’77 the Carter Administration developed the Department of energy to help reduce our independence on foreign oil. Now 35 years later how well has it worked?
their budget is 22.4 billion dollars a year, with 16000 employees and 100,000 contractual employees you would think they would have solved the crisis. But alas this is not the result. Instead we have gone from 30% use of foreign oil to 70%. Good old federal bureaucracy.
And now this same government has taken over health care, the banking system and the auto industry.
Are you nervous yet? george

I aired an interview I did with Senator Tom Casperson yesterday We discussed the land cap bill and the right to clean private beach areas that people own. He pointed out that the government can clean their beaches with tractors and equipment but a private land owner had to get special permits and permission from the Army corp of engineers. You will be able to listen to this interview and weigh in on the discussion on our facebook page. I personally would like to thank the senator for his work in this area. keep up the good work. george

Today we looked into the reasons why gas prices are always higher in Munising than in surrounding areas. Some suggestions were greed, one person thought that there was a man behind it and that he dictated the price margins. I have noticed that when a particular station’s prices go down, all the other stations follow suit. Hmmm, let me know what you think. george

The mystery has been solved… The sailing ship is the Niagara and is a replica of the frigate used by Admiral Perry in the war of 1812. It is being manned by a group of students and they take folks on tours of the ship for educational purposes. Thanks for all your help and thank you for listening. george

George In The Morning

I arrived to work this morning to be greeted by a rather large sailing ship. I am told it was used in World War II, however I have not been able to verify this. If anyone has any info on this vessel, please let me know. George

What a shame Mother Nature just would not let us have our fireworks to end a great July 4th celebration. However I am told they will take place this evening. Things could have been worse, we could have watched them in the lightening and rain. Our crews do a great job despite of great adversity the elements posed at the time. Thanks guys and gals. george

Snowflake Review

Friday evening I had the privilege of  attending the one man performance of “Snowflake”. Gayle LaJoye was spectacular in portraying his character of a once, local known individual. Gayle’s pantomime performance  kept our attention riveted towards the stage waiting for the next antic.

This play surely contained every quality description  that the press release said it would present plus so much more. I have never seen a stage play before and I would definitely go see this performance again. If you missed it you owe it to yourself to find out where the next performance  will be and go see it. You won’t be disappointed, I wasn’t.

Thanks to the Munising Bay Arts Association and the Harger family for bringing this classic here to our town. george
