'Stangs Are Heading to Regionals

The Munising Mustang Cheer Team has qualified for Regionals after falling by 0.2 points to Iron Mountain last Friday in East Jordan at the MSHAA District Cheer Competition.

The ‘Stangs held on to a 6.046 point lead heading into the 3rd round. But, the Mountaineers proved to be a tough contender and beat the Orange & Black with a score of 295.8 to 289.5.

Manistique and Charlevoix rounded out the top 4 qualifiers and will also be going to Regionals. Last year the Mustangs missed the Finals by 8 points.

The Mustangs fell to Iron Mountain at the Kingsford Invitational on Monday night with a score of 711.5532 to 699.4360. The Orange & Black fought hard through the first two rounds but stumbled in the 3rd with a 9 point deficit. After a successful battle in the past few competitions, the Mustangs struggled a bit. Manistique rounded out the top three.

Munising Mustang Cheer Team

On a lighter note, the Middle School ‘Stangs rousted a first place victory over Gladstone, 417.38 to 380.5740.

A big congratulations to both the Munising High School and Middle School Competitive Cheer Teams. They both snagged top prize at the U.P. Cheer Classic on Saturday the 4th! This win also boosted the Mustangs ratings. Each week the Cheer Coaches and Officials rank the top teams and this week, the Orange & Black are ranked #4 for Division 4.

So, what are YOU doing on Saturday afternoon?

The Munising Mustang Competitive Cheer Team is hosting the U.P. Cheer Classing at Munising High School on Saturday, February 4th, starting at 1pm. Teams from across the Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Michigan will converge on the Mustang gym floor to cheer, tumble, and stunt their way into first place.

The ‘Stangs have definitely proven to be a force on the floor. With a couple of first place finishes, including one in Breckenridge (Lower Michigan) last weekend, the Orange & Black are hoping to have a home court advantage.
