11/08/2014 St. Ignace High School, St. Ignace, MI – The Munising Mustangs second playoff game of the season started on a cold, windy, and snowy day. Despite the cold weather, the Munising Mustangs high school football players were ready for action. The Mustangs kicked-off to the St. Ignace Saints to start the game. Andy Cooper recovered a St. Ignace Saints fumble to give the Munising Mustangs the ball on their own 30-yard line at the end of the first quarter.

First Quarter Score:
Munising Mustangs: 0
St. Ignace Saints: 0

The second quarter started with the Munising Mustangs in control of the football, deep in their own territory. The Mustangs fought hard to move the ball into scoring position, but had to punt to the Saints. Both teams defense held strong throughout much of the first part of the first half, with no scoring from either team. Penalties were a problem for both teams throughout the first half. A roughing the passer penalty on the Mustangs gave the Saints great field position at the Munising Mustangs 30 yard line with two minutes left in the first half. Austin Kelto intercepted the ball late in the half to give the Mustangs an opportunity to score before the half ended. As the half drew to a close, the wind and snow picked up, foreshadowing a tough battle ahead.

Second Quarter Score:
Munising Mustangs: 0
St. Ignace Saints: 0

Third quarter action got underway with the Munising Mustangs receiving the kickoff. Just a few minutes into the half, Garrett Blank was able to score on a great run, due to some incredible blocking, to make the score 7-0 in favor of the Mustangs. Garrett Elor and Corey Cotey were insturmental in the second half, giving Garrett Blank enough room to move the ball down-field on multiple drives. A good field goal gave the Munising Mustangs a three point buffer over a possible Saints touchdown, with a score of 10-0 at the end of the third quarter.

Third Quarter Score:
Munising Mustangs: 10
St. Ignace Saints: 0

The St. Ignace Saints fought valiantly throughout the entire game, but at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the cracks in their undefeated armor began to show. Multiple big penalties on the Saints throughout the game gave the advantage to the Munising Mustangs with under ten minutes left in the game. Garrett Blank continued to lead the Mustangs to victory, scoring another touchdown on another great run thanks to a great stiff-arm block. A good extra point made the score 17-0, in favor of the Munising Mustangs. Another touchdown for the Mustangs made the score 24-0. The St. Ignace Saints did their best to fight back, scoring a touchdown late in the game, but the Saints missed a two point conversion, making the score 24-6. Ben Stasewich intercepted a Saints pass with two minutes left in the game, which gave the Mustangs time to knee the rest of the clock down. Despite their best efforts, the Munising Mustangs held the Saints off throughout the rest of the game.
