On the Mustangs very first drive, Austin Kelto made a great pass to Andy Cooper for the Mustangs first touchdown. The point after attempt was blocked, however, so that made the early score 6-0. The Muskegon Catholic Central Crusaders answered on the next possession, returning the kick-off for a touchdown. A good extra point made the score 7-6, in favor of the MCC Crusaders. Both teams fought valiantly, with their entire seasons riding on the line.  The ball was traded back and forth across the field as both teams defenses held strong after the opening of the quarter, and the quarter ended without any further scoring.

The second quarter started with the same action as the end of the first quarter. The Munising Mustangs defense made several great stops on the Crusaders first drive of the quarter. Ben Stasewich had a great sack on the MCC Crusaders quarterback with under a minute left in the half. The Munising Mustangs did their best to stop the Crusaders before halftime to give them more hope for keeping the game close. With thirty seconds left in the half, the Crusaders attempted a long pass to the corner of the end zone, but the pass was incomplete. However, a Munising Mustang penalty gave the Crusaders a first down and a great shot at another score before the half ended. Ian McGinnis intercepted the Crusaders very next pass, due to a tipped ball from Ben Staciwich, and the half ended with a score of 10-6, in favor of the Crusaders.
