The City of Munising water system recently violated drinking water safety. The water system detected the presence of coliform bacteria in the water supply. The system is routinely monitored for the presence of drinking water contaminates. Routine samples were collected during August and one sample was positive for coliform bacteria. Two repeat positive samples led to the violation of the drinking water standard.
As a precautionary measure, DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.
