Effective Monday, January 30, 2012, the Michigan State Police, Munising transitional detachment located at the former Munising Post location will close. Munising’s transitional detachment will move to a new site location at the Alger Correctional Facility and become the Munising Detachment of the Negaunee Regional Post.
Back on September 16, 2011 the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post consolidated with the MSP transitional detachment at Munising to become the Negaunee Post serving the counties of Marquette and Alger.
The new detachment facility is located N6141 Industrial Park Drive, in Munising Township. While the detachments will not be opened to the public, they do provide low to no-cost locations for troopers to start and end their shifts, type reports and meet with the public by appointment.
