The game started early because of rain and the officials wanted to get it under way prior to the schedule 7pm start. The rain ended at the end of the 1st quarter and the quarter was played very competitively.

Second quarter brought about more action and a few penalties some of which were rare with a 10 yard penalty and points wiped off the board. At 6:38 in second quarter the penalty came. Rudyard’s coach then wanted a flag on Riley Murk as he pushed the player way back. At 6:16 in 2nd quarter, the score was by Jacob Mattson up the middle making it 6-0, no good on conversion. Mustangs played thru penalties to a 6-0 score. Mustangs kick and Rudyard takes over at the 44 yard line. Rudyard gets a flag for face masking at 5:12 in 2nd quarter. Kane Nebel then recovered a fumble and returned the ball all the way to the Rudyard 42 yard line. Touchdown #35 Blake Walther, he catches for another score. Blake was the quarter back for the JV’s. End of 2nd quarter score, 12 Mustangs – 7 Rudyard.

An extra 3 minutes was added to half time for additional calisthenics to avoid injuries. Third quarter was underway. On kickoff the ref pulled his flag out, and didn’t throw the flag, and put it back in his pocket, a rare sight. Minute after minute lots of defense prevailed 3rd quarter. Micaiah Peramaki blasted through the line for a 27yard gain for a score and also catches for 2 in the end zone making it 20-7 Mustangs. A pile of tough defensive Mustangs push Rudyard’s runner back for a loss on 4th and 2 and Mustangs take the ball at the 48 yard line. Kane Nebel runs 6 yards for a key 1st down at 4:50 left in the 3rd quarter. Mustangs score again in the 3rd and at 2:52 left in the 3rd, score is 28 to 7 Mustangs.

On 4th he fires deep and it’s over the receivers head and Mustangs get the ball with 45seconds in the 3rd quarter. Mustangs doing a great job taking control during the 3rd quarter and they take the ball back. End of 3rd score, 28 to 7 lead.

4th quarter Mustangs have owned the line of scrimmage. Joe Kelley is playing with tenacity and 3 Mustangs are tackling the Bulldogs for a short gain of 2 at 8:50 left in the 4th. Mustang Meteorologists say it looks ominous & a lot like rain but its holding off. Josiah Peramaki runs for a 37yard drive touch down Mustangs. Score is now 34 to 7.
