MDOT Advisory – I-75 Northbound Traffic Restored North of St. Ignace

10

St. Ignace, Michigan – Northbound I-75 traffic at Hoban Creek north of St. Ignace has been restored as of 8:10 a.m. today. Contractors have filled the void found beneath the pavement, installed sheet piling to support the road, and temporarily repaved the section of I-75. A detour that had northbound I-75 traffic on the I-75 Business Loop through St. Ignace has been removed.

Crews working on the project to replace the culverts beneath the highway discovered a void beneath one lane of I-75 on Friday, Aug. 12.

Northbound I-75 traffic is currently redirected onto the inside lane of I-75 southbound, with southbound traffic on the outside lane. The two lanes of traffic are separated by concrete barrier wall. MDOT engineers expect to switch I-75 traffic over to the northbound lanes in 4-6 weeks, when they will replace the culvert beneath I-75 southbound and repave the roadway.
