Alger County – Starting January 8, 2012 and all the following Sundays of January and February, the Friends of Valley Spur will once again have free ski lessons for kids 18 and under to learn cross country skiing. Ski equipment is available for the kids to use if they don’t have their own.
The lessons begin at 1:00 p.m. Come early to get your equipment and to be assigned to a group to ski with.
The lessons will be done at 3:00 p.m. Refreshments will be available in the lodge after the lessons.
Parents are encouraged to ski also and are asked to pay the daily rate for skiing at Valley Spur. Kids 18 and under always ski for free at Valley Spur. The Friends of Valley Spur are offering free skiing and lessons in the hopes to give the kids of Alger County a chance to learn a life long sport at one of the best ski areas in the Midwest .
The Friends of Valley Spur are accepting gently used ski equipment. No 3 pin bindings can be accepted. The group is also seeking donations of money to buy new equipment for this kid’s program.
