Valley Spur needs a new groomer

Christmas, Michigan – Michelle Hach and Lou Kustin are spear heading a campaign to replace the 1986 and 1996 Jeeps that haphazardly groom the trails at Valley Spur. We met today at Munising Rotary’s weekly luncheon meeting at Foggy’s in Christmas each Tuesday at noon.

A new tractor and groomer and mower are the ticket to make good trails and a good classic ski track, plus mow all the over growth that happens annually. The new tractor groomer is needed.

A capital campaign is underway including seeking grants for this effort to raise $287,000.  Some $115,000 is already in the bank.

Kids ski free as some 5,000-10,000 skiers enjoy the trails at Valley Spur which affects our local economy in a positive way. Locals ski the trailers but folks search out National Parks and near attractions and ski places.

Letters of support are being requested. So if you love the out of doors, please forward a letter to Michelle or Lou so they can include your support of Cross Country Skiing and Snow Shoeing in Munising in their Grant Applications.

The deadline for your letter of support is mid January 2024 for the letters to be received.

You could bring a letter along to the upcoming 10k Classic Ski race fund raiser on January 14th at 10am at the Valley Spur Ski Trails, M94, Munising, Michigan. Please bring along $40 per person to seed this capital campaign.
