The “Science of Great Migrations” takes a look behind the scenes of National
Geographic’s series Great Migrations. Learn how scientists are using new
technologies to help learn more about animal migrations. Scientists are leaning
how wildebeest migration help the animals avoid predators; see how scientist
radio tag a monarch butterfly; learn how a new device attached to elephant seals
help scientists learn about how seals move and how deep they dive; and how
researchers using cell phones and text messages to keep African elephants safe.
Lake Invaders: The Fight for Lake Huron, 56 minutes
The third largest freshwater lake on the planet has been invaded by numerous
exotic species over the last century. "Lake Invaders: The Fight For Lake Huron" is a
documentary which explores the threat to Lake Huron's ecosystem and the
innovative solutions employed by biologists. They describe the damage caused by
these invaders and efforts to manage Lake Huron's ecosystem and multi‐million dollar fisheries.
