09/04/2013 Munising, MI – The Munising Mustangs lost a hard-fought battle last Friday night to the West Iron County Wykons 7-0.  Munising struggled offensively throughout the game with turnovers and, in the end, couldn’t overcome their mistakes.  Junior quarterback Austin Kelto went 6/16 and threw three interceptions in the contest.  Senior running back Cody Hayes carried the ball 19 times and rushed for 87 yards for the Mustangs.  Neither team really managed to do much on offense as the Mustangs were able to pick-off two passes that WIC’s junior quarterback Andrew Peterson threw in the contest.  Peterson, however, redeemed his tough night through the air by scoring the game’s lone touchdown with just under 10-minutes left in the fourth quarter, giving the Wykons the victory.

The Mustangs must now turn it’s focus to playing the Jets of Powers North Central High School (1-0)  The Jets are coming off of a 48-0 dominating performance against Ontonagan.  The Mustangs will rely heavily on their defense in this game as they look to slow down the dynamic Jets’ passing attack.  On offense, coach Jeff Seaberg will need to stress to his team to hold on to the football.  There’s only so much good defense can do when the offense struggles to keep the drive going.  Running back Cody Hayes will undoubtedly be the work-horse for the Mustangs as they look to even out their record.   The young Mustang offensive line will have to protect junior quarterback Austin Kelto so that he might have time to throw the ball down-field and balance the Mustang attack.

It is shaping up to be a great game in Munising this Friday night.  Be sure to catch all of the action here on WQXO 1400 AM radio.  Kickoff for the Mustangs is at 7:00pm EST.
