MUNISING, MI – The Munising Lady Mustangs have started off the season just the way they’d hoped: 2-0. With a thrilling 38-37 victory at home against Manistique and a convincing 51-38 win at Newberry, the Mustangs have begun the 2013-14 campaign just right. Coach Matt Mattson has a tough job this year replacing five senior starters that graduated from last year’s team. He’ll be doing this from here on out with three freshman: point-guard Marissa Immel, center Frankie Mattson (Coach Mattson’s daughter), and forward Bailey Downs. The Lady Mustangs aren’t without experience though, as they have four seniors in Sadie Cornish, Megan Wattson, Dian Charboneau, and Leah Werner. Hopefully they will provide assistance to the younger players should the game begin to overwhelm then.
The Lady Mustangs will continue their season tonight at Superior Central a consensus favorite to repeat as the Central U.P. League champions. Be sure to tune into AM1400 WQXO and join Charlie Nebel for all of your Munising Mustangs action. Pre-game starts at 7:00pm and tip-off is at 7:30pm. GO MUSTANGS!
