The crowds held back tears as the game announcements started Thursday night, as the retiring seniors poured their hearts out, sharing their favorite moments, and memories over the years.
WQXO was there to catch the touching moments from Elizabeth Wing, Elizabeth Kaylen Kienitz, Kinley Hall, Addie Bowerman as they thanked their teams, coaches, teachers and friends for instilling in them a wild spirit and the ability to run free into the future.
Coach Matt Mattson took the stage next and recalled his proudest moments, reminding the seniors of the amazing year they had and congratulating them on their hard work. Coach Mattson called out GPAs of the seniors showing that every senior this year on the varsity basketball team had found their names on the Honor roll with GPA’s between 3.5 and 4.0, energizing the proud mustangs sending them after their next big win!
The game started with a spark as Kate Mattson #12 feeling lighter then air, charges center stage taking the first shot of night and put the Mustangs on the board! Tessa Salo #3 showed us her quick hands as she takes the first steal of the game, receiving a foul and a trip to the line. Salo would miss both shots and would see Dayne Behning #5 come to her aid, receiving herself 2 trips to the line and scoring herself 4 points before the end of the quarter.
Throughout the game the girls showed their amazing teamwork. The ball cut through the air from player to player as players traded good shots to GREAT shots making the crowds scream as each quarter ticked away, 19/10 after the 1st, 48/18 at the half, 63/27 after the 3rd quarter and ending the game 65/30, earning themselves another victory.
